About Cal State Sacramento

The university was founded in 1947, as Sacramento State College. The need of a four-year university in Sacramento dates from 1920. In 1960, the Sacramento College became a part of California State University, and in 1972, the current name was settled.

The Cal State Sacramento Campus is the 6th large campus out of the 23 California State Universities, covering an area of 300 acres.

The best time to visit the campus is considered to be during fall or early spring because of the colors of the thousands of trees that offer an amazing sight.

Cal State Sacramento consists in 8 colleges, including Arts and Letters, Business Administration, Natural Sciences & Mathematics and Engineering & Computer Science, offering various degrees, including 60 undergraduate and 40 graduate degrees.

Athletics: The colors that are representing the university are green and gold and the mascot is the Hornet. Hornet Stadium hosted the NCAA Track and Field Championship in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
